So like the rest of the world, I sit behind a screen
Searching on the internet for something to inspire me
I remember being one and thinking like a teen
They told me I could only dream about the things my eyes had seen
So in observation I can tell you I believe
We create the monsters we release into society
A lot of us are harsh and we demand perfection
Nobody thought that I was smart, now they stand corrected
Was hand-elected by my teachers to be nothing, yeah, nothing
See what the problem is?
Is that the kind of confidence you want your kids to prosper with?

In all honesty, what really bothers me the most
It all lies within the comments that we post
From hate to the racism, distaste displayed for women
Cornered by the prison every day that we're living in
But we choose to

This is the lose-lose choice that we make
We're just adding the ingredients to poison the cake
We're ignoring all the voices of faith
That are so honest and beautiful like the voices of youth
It'll show promise, did it for so long
And look at where it got us
It got us here today, so we kneel and we pray and we say
If we don't see the peace and never hear the truth
Why would we even fight for freedom? We don't see the use
So when I think about the future and I see the youth
I wish that I could make them drink this water that we lead them to
But *, I just wish the mission was innocent
I just wish the mission was true
I just wish our leaders showed us recognition and care
As we all sit in despair, sit and stare at a television
As we live in fear of a villain that isn't there
Are we a product of this system or a victim of it?
Picking pockets for wicked profits, I sit and watch it
Horrified at the missing logic and knowledge
Horrified at the atrocities that are constantly hidden from us
But see the banks don't see us as humans
They just see us as borrowers
And nothing is as evil as the dollar is
We even sell our souls for likes, comments and followers
But if you ask me, I think it's obvious
When you mix your money with greed, that's where the problem is
People search for fame, feeling like acknowledgement is equal to accomplishment
But brother, it ain't
And we've all had enough of being stuck in this rain
So we run for cover, trying to double suffering pain
But our government are gluttonous, sucking all the blood from our veins
So we feel like nothing will change
